Most of the areas that need to be covered after hair transplantations can be finished in a single session that usually takes 1-2 hours. Before talking about hair micropigmentation, we need to talk about 2 different types of hair transplantation.

What is FUT?

FUT is the abbreviation for the name Follicular Unit Transplant. This technique is done by removing a strip of hair from the back of the head which is less likely to lose hair and transplanting them on the areas that have sparse or no hair. This technique usually leaves a stitch mark on the area that the strip has been removed from which can be very noticable in most cases.

What is FUE?

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. In this technique, grafts are collected from the donor area individually in order to transplant them on the areas that need hair. Because this is done by extracting graft one by one, there are usually not many scars on the donor area. But there can be some areas where the extraction is visible because of over-collecting in a small area.

How is the FUT scar mark covered with Hair Micropigmentation?

Because of the way it is done, FUT leaves a visible scar mark on the donor area, which is usually located on the back of the hair between two ears. With hair micropigmentation this mark can be covered in a single session that takes 1-2 hours to complete. The scar mark left by FUT is especially visible when the hair in the area is shorter. With hair micropigmentation done properly, this area can be covered and hair can be cut at any length without aesthetic concerns.

How is the Hair Micropigmentation done after FUE?

As mentioned above, FUE technique rarely leaves scar marks if done properly by an expert team. Where hair micropigmentation helps with FUE is when the graft extracted from the donor areas is not enough to cover the area that has hair loss or on the extraction areas on the donor areas where ove-collecting has been done. These areas can be covered with hair micropigmentation to create a more dense look. Just like FUT, usually one session that takes 1-2 hour is enough to cover these areas.

Hair micropigmentation can be done before or after hair transplantation. But if it will be done after hair transplantation, a period of 6-12 months should be waited to see the full results of the hair transplantation.

How is Hair Micropigmentation done on areas that have scar or burn marks?

There can be scar marks on the scalp caused by injuries, surgeries or burns. Of course the amount and length of the sessions are subject to change depending on the area that needs to be covered. But usually these marks are in small areas, but usually they can be covered in a single session that usually takes 1-2 hour.

What is the type of the ink used in hair micropigmentation?

The ink used doesn’t spread under the skin.

These inks are produced specifically for hair micropigmentation and are not permanent in order to protect the skin health.

Inks are not subject to color change caused by sweating.

Because they stay on the upper levels of the skin they don’t harm the follicle roots.

Inks are water mineral based and antiallergic.

The inks are organic and have no health related side effects.

As with normal hair micropigmentation, a check-up appointment should be made after 20-30 days after the application to assess the results and see if there are any areas that need to be retouched. If aftercare is done correctly and instructions are followed, the lifetime of hair micropigmentation can change and is between 3-5 years.

As it helps with areas suffering from hair loss, hair micropigmentation also can help cover areas that have been scarred by FUE FUT hair transplants…

[2
