hair micropigmentation design

First of all let’s explain what hair micropigmentation is. Hair micropigmentation is a non-surgical application usually prefered by people who have had loss, sparse hair or had sudden hair loss due to alopecia. Aim with this application is to reduce the difference between hair and scalp using specially made inks and needles. Hair micropigmentation is not a toupee or hair transplantation. Application is done by simulating the look and color of hair. Although there are similarities between hair micropigmentation and hair tattoos, equipment and ink used are very different. Needles used are specially made and single use only.

Micropigmentation can be used for multiple reasons:

1 – Aesthetic reasons: Applications done in eyebrows, lips, or eyelids.

2 – Hair micropigmentation: Application can be used to simulate the look of hair on scalp or beard areas. It can also be used to cover the scar or burn marks on the scalp.

How hair micropigmentation is done can be answered as:

First, the application area should be dry and clean. Hair micropigmentation machine is used to simulate the look of hair on the application area. Before the application, anesthetic creams are used to reduce the pain. Micropigmentation is used to simulate the look and color of hair in the area. Depending on the area, the application usually takes 5 hours to complete.

If the aftercare is done correctly, the final result of the application is achieved after 5 days. After the completion of the session, a check-up appointment is made to assess the results and make small adjustments if needed. Length and number of sessions are determined by the area that needs to be covered. A single session can take ½ – 5 hours, while the number of sessions can be 1 – 4.

Machines used in hair micropigmentation are extremely important because the desired look for hair micropigmentation is natural. Everybody has different skin and hair tones. Ink choice should be made to reflect these differences.

Designing for the hair micropigmentation starts with detection of the area that needs to be covered. Although it looks more natural with short cut hair, hair micropigmentation can achieve natural looks with long hair too.
